STORY:
So, ya say ya wants to play a game of Kapture, eh? Well, I gess
yir welkum to it! The yeer is 2097. Much of modirn civilizashun, as yoo
may remembir, was wiped out dering The War. Those of us who servived the
boms and fires have bin forsed to bekum Skavinjers. As Skavinjers, our
continyude servival depends upon the findin of food and uther supplies
left ovir from befor The War. Problim is, thear just ain't enuf to go
arownd... That's why we bilt the Arena, and that's why we play the
"game" of Kapture. The winnir of a rownd of Kapture is awarded "Viktory."
This meens that he, or she, will be given enuf food and watir to stay
alive for a sirtan amount of time. The loser, however, (if he or she is
still alive) is forsed to wander the Wastelands... Just "Servival of the
fittest" I gess! Good luk, new wun, it getz mity ruf arownd heer...

INSTRUCTIONS FOR PLAY OF KAPTURE: (As posted on the door of Skavinjer HK1)
"Kapture Instrukshuns and rulez"
(1) Travil to the Arena Entrence, located west of Skavinjer Hedkwartirs1.
( From DOS, change to the directory containing all the games files
and type, KAPTURE <enter>. Kapture requires about 585k of
conventional memory to run, so if it seems to screw up or doesn't
run at all, just free up some more memory!)
(2) Reflekt upon the great Kreators, who made Kapture possibal.
( Press a key to skip the title screen. )
(3) Deside upon wat part of the Arena yoo will play in.
( From the main menu, select (toggle) either :
STANDARD - recommended only for experimentation and practicing
stategies, as it always remains the same. It is good
for first time play and for learning the game.
RANDOM - recommended for all REAL Kapture contests. Will always
presents a unique challenge for both opponents to
overcome! )
(4) Attane yir player's pass frum the Arena entrence.
( Select START from the main menu. )

HINTS AND SURVIVAL TACTICS: (from Sk2645 AKA Switchblade, 19 Viktories!)
* Allways keep an eye on yir fatigue, don't let it get too low!
Or else ya won't be abal to hit a dern thing!
* Make shore ya gotz plenty of ammo, health, and mines! If ya need
more and can't find any lyin arownd, just hed bak to yir base!
* Drop mines in stratejik lokashuns! (like neer yir flag!)
* Pick up yir own flag and hide it sumware else!!!!
* Get yir hands on a skannir and kompass as soon as possabal, and use em!
The skannir is a varry handee gajit! (if ya kin figyure it out!)

TECHNICAL SUPPORT AND INFO:
- This program was written on a 486-25, using Turbo C++ for all the
code. Deluxe Paint II Enhanced was used to draw all the graphics.
- All the files should be copied into a single directory on the hard
drive.
- If running Kapture breeds strange results (You don't see the title
screen after the program finishes loading) then the odds are that
there is not enough conventional memory to run it. It seems to need
about 585k of conventional memory to run properly! So free up some
memory if you have to!
- If your computer is a 386, the program may run a little slow.
Sorry, I am no "John Carmack" yet. Hopefully as I go off to college
and study computer engineering I will pick up a few things! Who
knows? Someday I may even get to work for ID Software (yeah, right!).
- If Kapture seems to be running TOO fast on your computer (you are one
of those lucky people who owns a 486DX2-66mhz or something) then you
are in luck, because I put in a feature just for people like you!
The plus and minus keys (+,-) will increase and decrease the frame
delay rate respectively. If those stake traps seem to be popping up
and down at warp speed, it may be a good idea to press the + key once
or twice.
- What? You say you like the game, but there just doesn't seem to be
any sound coming out? Well, you must be going deaf! Ok, not really,
there is no sound support as of now. I know, it would really heighten
the experience of the game, but I have been busy preparing for college.
However, if enough people were to acknowledge that they would like to
hear sound support for the program (through the use of small bills
please), I may decide to take the time out to provide some killer
Soundblaster support!!!! Imagine... Wow...
